Mel's 30-Day Goals

30 Days of Counting Calories

This week I started a #BeBetterGoal to count my calories for 30 days. To prove it I’m posting my screenshots from MyNetDiary daily. I believe counting calories is the most efficient way to lose weight. Read this to find out why.

March 10th: I calibrated my plan so that I’m eating roughly 1200 calories per day. I’m not going to be neurotic about it though don’t intend on letting myself go under 1,000 or over 1400 on most days. Today I didn’t have my phone or apple watch so I prob did go over 90 steps. I’m not THAT lazy ;-P

March 11: Wore my apple watch today so it calculated my steps but it seemed high considering I was home all day except a quick bike ride. Did I bike ride so slow it thought I was power walking? Possible. Lol. Looks like I’m eating too much fat in my diet. That’s the great thing about using these type of apps. If you TRULY input every tiny item – you get a great look at all the nutrients, carbs, fats, protein etc you’re consuming and can adjust accordingly.

March 12: Started using the GPS workout tracker inside the MyNetDiary app for logging exercise or biking sessions. I had a pretty leisurely hour bike ride so surprised it clocked it at 309 calories burned. I take those calculations with a grain of salt but did allow myself a couple hundred more calories today.

March 13th: After 3 days of going WAY past my ideal fat % I tried really hard today not to eat too much fat (even healthy fats). My cholesterol is slightly high based on my recent doctors visit so I’m going to use nutrition to get this back to normal!

March 14th: David and I joined my new neighbor friend, Astrid, on a walk through Leu Gardens during their annual plant sale. Without much effort at all actually clocked a bunch of steps. This place might be the 2nd best place to spend a few hrs and realize you walked a TON. The first place being Theme Parks of course!

UPDATE: I ended up crushing this challenge and successfully counting calories for 30 days in a row. Haven’t had a chance to update the images but will add a video soon. I lost 6 pounds without working out a single day or depriving myself (too much). I gained a few pounds the next month but it’s great to know all I have to do to get back on track is go back to counting!
